Wow you have not read my posts let alone my links and want to lecture , how very euro of you.
Yes Aussie does have a points immigration system.
In addition to that we have a system to take in refugee's this requires no points .
Australia takes in one of the largest number of refugees on an ongoing basis per head of population of any country.
Refugees that set out from Indonesia and have paid people smugglers and do not reach Australian waters are sent back to Indonesia, which is not a war zone . By the way Indonesia has the worlds largest muslim population and most of the refugees are muslim so it is interesting they do not seek asylum there .
Refugees that reach Australian waters and have paid people smugglers are put in detention until they can find a country to take them . Failing that the Australian Govt has found countries that will take them that are not war zones . If they are found not to be refugees or are terrorists or major criminals they are sent back to country of origin which of course could be a war zone
Refugees that have not paid people smugglers, are taken in from refugee camps on a regular basis.
We have already taken in Syrian refugees and the latest announcement is for a further 12000 Syrians in the coming year .

I'm not trying to lecture at all...just trying to open up the debate. My comment was a general one and not just aimed at Australia...there are a lot of countries that could do more including the Gulf states and other European countries.
I have no doubt Australia takes in more refugees per head of population than most countries...but then one has to consider that Australia has a population of around 24 million and is almost the size of the USA that has a population of around 320 million and the UK (which would fit into Australia over 31 times) has a population of around 64 million. The UK cannot sustain the levels of immigration indefinitely...we are already living in shoe boxes for houses, the NHS cannot cope (being the 5th largest employer in the world), our roads are constantly jam packed and the infrastructure in general cannot cope.
I have a sister that lives on the Gold Coast and works in Brisbane and, believe me, if I were in a position to emigrate I would seriously consider joining her.
Terrorism and war is a worldwide problem and there needs to be a consolidated policy between all civilized countries to deal with the threat and aftermath rather than fragmentation and differing internal politics between borders and continents. The name's Tamora...TVR Tamora...with a capital "T".

What a load of rubbish, most of Australia is desert and we have the same problems as other developed countries.
We do try to manage our issues including immigration and refugees ,in such a way as to keep our way of life. Euro can learn from that when they get over their arrogance . However as I said they would rather learn the hard way .
So my comment stands, mwhhahahah.

What part was "rubbish"? What "arrogance" are you referring to? Learning what the hard way?
EDIT: Half of Saudi Arabia is the Empty Quarter, the largest sand desert area in the world and is less than a third of the size of Australia yet has a population of around 30 million. 12,000 Syrian so-called refugees is a drop in the ocean compared to 800,000 being taken by Germany this year alone...Australia has loads of room and the resources to take more along with other countries.Last edited by Tamora; 09-29-2015 at 08:04 AM. This arrogance and rubbish . Every time we help Euro out of their problems we get this . You think our roads aren't congested ? You think refugees want to live in the outback ,you think they would even know how ?
No they would live in major cites congested like other developed countries are . Your lack of understanding of Australia it's economy and structural issues doesn't not surprise.
To busy lecturing to learn, so on your own heads be it .

Does anybody actually think it's easy for any society to take in tens of thousands of displaced people? Take 3 in your home for one week and tell me what you think.

WOW...you don't like me do you!
I thought this thread was for healthy debate and not a forum for personal insults and condescending remarks. None of my comments have been in that sort of vocabulary.
I have asked questions that you have not answered...so I fail to understand how asking questions can be construed as arrogance, rubbish and being too busy lecturing to learn.
How has Australia with a population of 24 million helped Europe with a population of over 740 million out of their "problems"?

Europeans don't learn. They have been invaded by Muslims for years that are reshaping the society of those countries. They have been living in the mediocrity of socialist policies for years and they keep chasing the same system.
We got raped by Obama but I am sure (I hope) that we will never elect a clown again. And if the minority of dysfunctional idiosyncrasy in this country grows up, it would be time then to leave to Mars and create a new civilized colony over there.

Hey T look at both sides. I remember some European papers and politicians picking on the Aussies for their stance on immigration and how uncompassionate the Aussies were. Now that the shoe is on the other foot let them speak.
Bottom line is whether as a country or as a person whether you choose to allow someone into your country or home is your choice and everyone else should stay quiet. The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!
