Thread: Let's talk politics.

So, here is my thing. Republicans are the ones that want us involved all over the world. It seems Obama actually wants to bring our boys home so they are not killed and injured everyday.
2008 - I was an unemployed carpenter, along will millions
2015 - I make six figures as a computer engineer
2008 - forclosures were at a record high
2015 - housing market is strong
2008 - stock market crashing, under 9000
2015 - stock market hitting 18,000
2008 - unemployment skyrocketing
2015 - unemployment around 5%
2008 - can't find Bin Laden
2015 - Bin Laden dead for years
2008 - American car manufacturers about to collapse
2015 - stronger than ever
2008 - 15 million without healthcare
2015 - under 7 million, give or take
2008 - Iran over 15,000 reactor cores
2015 - down to about 3,000 or so
2008 - gay marriage is not legal
2015 - gays have the right to benefits from their partners of 20 years
That's just off the top of my head. Sure there are problems, but when I look at my life in 2008 vs 2015, it's not even close. I think we need to fix entitlements. Too many people taking advantage of the government. Immigration is blown way out of proportion. There are not very many people getting in this County. I love the idea that we are going to deport 12 million people. And Trump's estimate is up to 30 million. Yeah, show me a plan to deport 30 million people. That's a fairy tale. That is all Trump talks about is Immigration, and that's the least of our problems. I get job offers on a daily basis. Maybe the job market is not as good for unskilled workers, but for me, I can get a job anywhere. That's how I look at the state of the County. And all these were accomplished with ZERO Republican support. But I still think Obama is coming after our guns. lol
But I can guarantee my success is not due to Obama. I just feel the job market and the economy has allowed me to succeed. But I will also say I will be successful regardless of the President or the government. I have taught myself skills that I can use the rest of my life, anywhere in the world.Last edited by dmizzle; 10-01-2015 at 08:03 PM.

Congrats, and I can guarantee you none of those points are Obamas accomplishments at all. In fact I believe Obama is dangerous for the country and for the world. But just like the points are not his accomplishments, all those issues about people taking advantage of the system and illegal aliens ARE his fault. He has done absolutely nothing. Nothing at all in every single aspect. Only stupid reforms like Obamacare which is a complete disaster.
Trumps idea of getting rid of illegal aliens is perfectly doable. It will be one expense, one big effort in exchange of prosperity and a permanent solution for a problem that is degenerated, corrupt. Just deploying the national guard along the border with mexico with martial law and specific orders to stop every intruder at all cost would be enough to stop illegal aliens while we start building the wall.
And if they call Americans to volunteer in building the wall, I can guarantee you, I will be there, with my gun and the American flag.

I don't think anyone that supports the GOP lives in a fact-based reality anymore. So it is completely pointless to talk about anything of substance.
This is my final post on this thread.“Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.”

Well I don't get what blah means. Look our society here has gotten more and more polarized over the years. Here we can talk and make sense but it takes an open mind. If you guys don't want to then either don't bother with this thread or I'll just shut it down. I thought this might be a way where we can all talk and learn. Maybe I' wrong.

The "Blah" used to be a statement that was subsequently deleted. Thus the disconnect.
I agree, things are so polarized that nobody is even listening to the other side. But observations point to those that live in an urban setting and those that don't. There is common ground if people would just listen. But is is stuff like this -
"I don't think anyone that supports the GOP lives in a fact-based reality anymore. So it is completely pointless to talk about anything of substance"
That thinking will never bring us together. Blinders suck, there are more than one point of view and the other can be well educated by listening to the other side in full.

Our country has drifted so far away from what our founders intended it to be. Our Constitution is being trampled on daily. Both parties are guilty. We have a soft tyranny being imposed upon us, and run away debt that will sink us. Our president talks about gun control, but is willing to allow a terrorist regime to have nuclear weapons.... go figure!

Well first off. I'm not sure I'd classify many of the "accomplishments" with that word. Especially health insurance law, which has nothing to do with health care. They are two seperate issues. Everyone in this country has health care, it's as close as the nearest emergency room. Health Insurance protects a person's assets by providing coverage against illness at a premium, ie dollars paid to the insurance company. People who have no assets technically don't need insurance as there is nothing for the doctors or hospitals to take if they are not paid. And yes, those losses are paid for by the insured patients which the insurance companies pass along in premium increases.
So so what's changed with the Healthcare (insurance ) law, nothing really, now there is a new government bureaucracy, with thousands of government employees to add additional expense for tax payers. Or should I say the few people who pay taxes. Oh there is one change, now doctors have to accept less dollars for services rendered , much like Medicare patients, which they can't refuse. As a result, there will be less doctors practicing and less students becoming doctors. ie, quality of care deminishes. Ask a Brit or Canadian where they go for a serious surgery, or wait over a year for it at home.
The Bin Ladin thing doesn't require a comment. Oliver North warned congress about him during Clinton Administration Clinton could have taken him out but needed to consult the lawyers before launching a cruise missle
Unemployment 5%? Really? Everyone stopped looking for work, so they don't count. Check out the latest congressional census report, almost twice as many people receiving government assistance than people working to pay the taxes to those benefits.
Accomplishments??? Well congrats on yours! Who responsible for your successes Obama or you?
