Hi Everyone, I was interested in trying to find something to help my libido. Im 27 years old and noticed my libido has severely dropped in the past year or so. When I masturbate, I still get erections but need constant stimulation to stay up or it will get soft quickly. Before I could walk around with an erection for minutes and not worry about it getting flaccid. Im new to this forum so just learning about exercises, kegals, edging, etc but was wondering about supplements that could help? I went to Vitamin Shoppe (like a GNC) by my house and bought this herbal supplement called Python Extra. Any ideas if this could help? I'll keep everyone updated to see if this works at all.
It has:
200 mg of Arctic Root
200 mg of Damiana
60 mg of Gotu Kola
200 mg of Oat Straw
200 mg of Muira Puama
200 mg of Saw Palmetto
60 mg of Ginkgo Biloba
200 mg of Eleuthero
200 mg of Korean Ginseng
100 mg of Guarana Extract
200 mg of Schizandra Chinensis
400 mg of Stinging Nettles
500 mg of Tribulus Terrestris

Well I took the suggested dose of 2 pills last night after my dinner. Didn't really feel any different. I'll keep taking it though. Does anyone know if its best taking these types of supplements with a meal or on an empty stomach?

Remember supplements take time. It's not like taking an aspirin and your headache goes away.

Considering that there are two opposing ingredients in the forumula I would recon the manufacturer does'nt reseach or know or care much about how and why the ingredients work...just that it's marketable and makes money.
Saw palmetto is a 5AR inhibitor, ( quite possible Urtica dioscia as well)...tribulus terrestris is a 5AR stimulator (based on studies from Bulgaria in the 80's) ehancing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone.
I am a big supporter of Tribulus Terrestris for male sexual performance and PE for this reason. TT started its history more or less as a libido tonic. Later studies showed that the supported active ingredient was most likely a saponin called protodioscin. Studies showed that the protodioscin content in TT had an positive effect on male sexual function due to it's ability to stimulate 5 alpha reductase activity, enhancing the conversion of testosterone to it's much more potent reduction of dihydrotestosterone. With this androgenic discovery behind TT the herb soon attracted attention of Bulgarian athletic performance researchers, primarilly the powerlifters, (remember Bulgaria was known for domination of powerlifting or Olympic lifting and strength sports). DHT has know effects on power and strength performance.
Soon, bodybuilders learnt of TT and it became the 'buzz' because of anecdotal talk of it enhancing testostosterone. Well, TT became a failed anabolic supplement when bodybuilders of all walks tried it hoping for massive steroid like gains overnight...and got shit in return. Most bodybuilders and marketers of TT have no clue what it does or how it works. Somewhere along the line it became common to hear that TT increased LH contributing to enhanced Leydig cell uptake of cholesterol resulting in more testosterone production. TT has a small effect of LH levels and testosterone production but primarilly it converts T to DHT via 5AR. Skeletal muscle cell have a low affinity for DHT and DHT is far more androgenic than anabolic, thus the failure with the bodybuilding world.
Now, the penis and related glands are fueled by DHT and have lots of 5AR and the androgen receptors for DHT....sorry I'm rambling on....back the original thread topic.
Why would you put both substances in the same formula based on those facts?Last edited by phallic1; 04-19-2011 at 08:05 PM.

Complete waste of money in my opinion. Not only what phallic1 posted, but there's a lot of ingredients there that are still unknown as to what benefits they may have (currently hypothetical benefits as they're not properly tested), and some that are in such small doses compared to larger ones that yield minimal results in scientific studies, there's no way it could be beneficial.
Are you only after increasing your libido? What is your health currently like? How is your diet? How often are you masturbating?
