From WebMD's Expert Louanne Cole Weston:
Jelqers may believe that the technique works, but they are mistaken about how. You may hear that by pushing blood into the erectile tissue of the penis, you can expand the chambers -- the corpora cavernosa -- so they eventually hold more blood, resulting in bigger erections. You may also hear that jelqing exercises the smooth muscle of the penis, making it bigger and stronger.
"I think that's all bogus," says Tom Lue, MD, professor of urology at the University of California, San Francisco. He says that only swelling, caused by bleeding under the skin, could explain the increases in penis size men like Thomas experience. This result would not be permanent, hence the need to follow a rigorous jelqing regimen indefinitely. The idea that the smooth muscle of the penis can be exercised , like the biceps, is a myth. "Smooth muscle doesn't respond that way," Lue says. In fact, stretching it can be harmful. For example, the bladder is smooth muscle. According to Lue, if you hold in urine so that the bladder expands too much, the tissue weakens. What's more, Lue says, all the stretching, pulling, and squeezing might cause scar tissue to form in the penis, which could hinder a man's ability to get an erection.
But Thomas maintains that apart from a little soreness, he hasn't injured his penis by jelqing, and he says his erections last longer than they did before. "Anatomically and physiologically this is just wishful thinking," urologist Ira Sharlip, president of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, writes in an email. "It's all baloney until a real study with objective before and after measurements, verified by an independent source [since you can't do a placebo comparison], proves that it works."
Given this: from WebMD (admittedly corporate run and bias, but still logical) how does one argue that this isn't true.
I do believe PE works but as a scientist I do always maintain a healthly level of doubt.
Explain away.

If they want to conduct a study I'm sure we can get them enough volunteers. Does anyone know is the earth still flat?
The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!

No need to explain.. I don't really care if you believe in it or not.. They are flat wrong about tension not having an influence on smooth muscle cells.. I've studied this in and out for a very long time.. Now it's time for you to study like I did.. or quit, I don't really care..
Here is the only thing I'll show you:
Mechanical stretch stimulates growth of vascular smooth muscle cells via epidermal growth factor receptor: Mechanical stretch stimulates growth of vascular smooth muscle cells via epidermal growth factor receptor

I'm almost 1 inch bigger then I was 10 months ago when I started this journey. And I assure you it's not due to swelling, or bleeding. My dick is bigger!!!! I've read all those articles. I don't see their point. Conduct a study or shut the fuck up, cause it works. I was the biggest skeptic when I first started. Not any more...

The funniest part is the analogy about weakening smooth muscle tissue. Its smooth muscle relaxation which stops blood flow, not contraction. Therefore "weakened" smooth muscle makes harder erections possible.
Second funniest part is how this expert refers to PE as working your bicep, they aren't even close and to assume that the PEers don't understand this is laughable.
Sometimes it takes the modern scientific community time to embrace new ideas. They'll come over eventually.
And If its wishful thinking, I'm going to keep wishful thinking my penis bigger and bigger.Initial(9-1-11): BPEL: 7.25", BPSFL: 7.75", EG: 4.75", BEG: 5.25", BPFL: ~5.0", FG: ~4.0"

Another thing to consider is that this information is coming from a Doctor - a doctor relies on people needing their help to obtain an income.
Its kind of like a slaughterhouse telling you that vegetables are really bad for you - they stand to gain business by misleading their customers.
This site, and others like it, are proof that PE does indeed work.

Most scientists whether academics or research think like this man - "I think it's a romantic ideal that nature has many lessons for us, and there are a few cases where this is true, but in the majority of cases we could teach nature, in a way, how to be better, fast." - Dr. Kleissl
Many scientists whether academics or researchers, think as the man quoted above. Very arrogant and with their minds only focused on what niche of science they study. Hawking, Einstein, Aristotle, Plato and Newton would have laughed at the above quote - they were real scientists and were known to marvel at what nature taught us.
The people the OP quoted are very much stuck in their vein of science or study and as others have states do have obvious economic reasons to refute PE's effectiveness.
