The corpora expand longitudinally as well as laterally. His case of megallophalus appears to be pretty symmetrical too.

It could get sad very quickly if there was a weak area in the Tunica. In these severe cases what seems to receive the most damage, the Tunica or the CC's? I'm just full of questions lately huh......
The tunicae contains a longitudinal layer. This allows it to expand lengthwise as well as radially. If the corpora expanded only radially, penile flaccid length would be almost as long as erect length.
A more flexible or weaker longitudinal tunica is probably the case with "showers" that have large flaccid measurements.
Yes, that is true, but we're not talking about a normal erection here. If you read the entire article there is no mention of any longitudinal increase,
only an increase in circumference.
Quote:
We propose an alternative mechanism for this sequela. The increase in penile circumference follows a sudden and permanent loss of elasticity of the tunica albuginea, brought about by a particularly intense priapism and a very engorged organ.
Why would the longitudinal tunica not expand as well.
According to the image you provided: https://www.pegym.com/forums/attachm...alophallus.jpg
"FIGURE 1. (A) Frontal and (B) lateral views of the external genitalia of the patient with megalophallus revealing a nontumescent, uniformly enlarged penis, with the widest circumference about 19.5 cm..."
Interesting! I was going off what the text stated. I never read the photo captions. The article only mentioned lateral expansion.
I wonder why there is no mention of any length increase? Strange.
Here's a recent article that describes the same scenario of an extraordinarily large penis incurred via priapism:
