Good 'ol PubMed. To those not inclined to read the densely scientific findings, here are the cliffs, with regards to coconut oil:
- Rats were given testosterone to mimic enlarged prostate symptoms consistent with testosterone induced prostate enlargement in humans
- The rats were then injected with several types of oils, including one group injected with coconut oil
- The group injected with coconut oil saw a reduction in prostate size in comparison to the control group
So the outcome suggests that internal use of coconut oil could benefit those with testosterone induced prostate enlargement issues.
Nothing about putting it on your dong. Not sure how this extrapolates to the issue in this thread, since the study was about internal use of the oil...also not sure of the mechanisms in which the oil reduced prostate size and if those mechanisms are hostile to internal test levels or benign.

Yes, and I didn't say anything about that.
No, you are not dense, there was a discussion on whether it blocks DHT or not, so instead of spreading rumors, I thought it is beneficial to post this STUDY, even if it is slightly relevant to a debate, personally, I have no say in this.

Ok, so is the assumption that it DOES block DHT or that it may block it? I don't know enough about the science to render an idea on that from this study. Is blocking DHT the mechanism by which the prostates remained healthy / less enlarged?
Honestly, I eat a LOT of coconut oil, so this is interesting to me. If it does block DHT, isn't that good for things like avoiding hair loss as well?My Log: EQ | Foreskin Restoration w TLC Tugger

Okay, this helped a lot: Dihydrotestosterone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dihydrotestosterone (commonly abbreviated to DHT), or 5α-dihydrotestosterone (5α-DHT), also known as androstanolone (5α-androstan-17β-ol-3-one) as well as 17β-hydroxy-5α-androstan-3-one, is a sex steroid and androgen hormone. The enzyme 5α-reductase synthesizes DHT in the prostate, testes, hair follicles, andadrenal glands. This enzyme reduces the 4,5 double-bond of the hormone testosterone. My Log: EQ | Foreskin Restoration w TLC Tugger

There is a theory that DHT causes Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.
Another theory focuses on dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a substance derived from testosterone in the prostate, which may help control its growth. Most animals lose their ability to produce DHT as they age. However, some research has indicated that even with a drop in the blood's testosterone level, older men continue to produce and accumulate high levels of DHT in the prostate. This accumulation of DHT may encourage the growth of cells. Scientists have also noted that men who do not produce DHT do not develop BPH.
Some researchers suggest that BPH may develop as a result of "instructions" given to cells early in life. According to this theory, BPH occurs because cells in one section of the gland follow these instructions and "reawaken" later in life. These "reawakened" cells then deliver signals to other cells in the gland, instructing them to grow or making them more sensitive to hormones that influence growth.
If it is like olive oil, then it also has an effect of avoiding hair loss when topically applied, so it would block DHT on the penis as well. I don't know about oral consumption though.A real man never hurts a woman. Crazy info, thanks! Ok, so let's just assume that it CAN block DHT through topical application. What would this mean to the lay person? What about applying topically to the face vs the penis? What about in terms of PE gains, or even muscle gain in general?

I won't get into arguing whether it affects gains or not, but I think that DHT is good!
Possible side effects of DHT inhibition:
Diminished libido, erectile dysfunction and male breast cancer.
Thing is, we shouldn't mess with our hormone levels, coconut oil may not have a bad effect when consummed, as it has a good type of fat, that is used by the body to synthesize andorgens, but the body doesn't absorb that from topical application so we only get the blocking factor of, I don't have experience with coconut oil, but I can tell that olive oil was not good as lube, although oral consumption is not a problem, in moderation of course.A real man never hurts a woman. So whats the verdict? There is quite a bit of contradiction here. I use coconut oil as lube for jelqs. Am I shooting myself in the foot?

My synopsis is that you're way better off with natural oils (grape seed, coconut, almond) than with synthetic products (mineral oil based, such as baby oil).
There are theories for how everything (literally EVERYTHING) can be bad for you, cause cancer, cause your dick to shrivel and your nipples to grow. But most are in extreme circumstances, and have to do with ingestion.
I wouldn't worry about it. Use organic and cold / expeller pressed and unrefined natural oils.My Log: EQ | Foreskin Restoration w TLC Tugger
