Mulkey, it is good to have open discourse. There are some things that just are not true. Mercury in any amount is bad for you. It does not matter that there are websites that say differently. there are websites that claim they can grow my penis 4 inches in 4 days, but you and I know better. Mercury was used for years in treating all kinds of things including syphillus, but we know now that it causes huge amounts of problems. The Mad Hatter is a character off Alice in Wonderland, and the name is derived because hat makers used mercury in the old days and it caused them to go loopy. There really is no amount of mercury that the body needs. Some of the heavy metals like copper and zinc do have an amount that is beneficial, but mercury is not one of them. Mercury actually gets in the way of proper metal use by our bodies. So while Cusp is trying very hard to get that point across to you and the rest of us he is doing so because thinking it is ok will hurt you or someone.

Better stop drinking that tea and alcohol too. Oh that's right, environmentalists aren't against tea and alcohol.

"After white and oily fish, the food items that had the most mercury content were herbal teas and alcohol. Wine had higher levels than beer. But, researchers were more surprised by the herbal teas, and believed this could suggest that teas might contain some toxins." Consumption of fish may have little effect on mercury levels in pregnant women - CBS News

It depends on what fish, tuna should be definitely avoided during pregnancy.

I don't believe environmentalists are the enemy, they are just trying to look after the planet, so that our children and others have sufficient food supply and clean air to breath.

But as to the heavy metals, one of the reasons they removed lead from petrol is because your body stores it.

Mercury is not bad for you in small amounts. Mercury poisoning occurs with large amounts of mercury. Certainly not in trace amounts found in fish even if you consume lots of fish. It's all bogus.

I'm not sure about mercury, but the saying mad as a hatter comes from mercury poisoning, so it stands to reason.

I know aluminium is supposed to be linked to Alzheimer's disease, that's why I tend to avoid orange juice from concentrate, they ship it in aluminium containers I believe and since OJ is acidic, I think in it's concentrated form it's even more so and will probably react with it's shipping container.

I could just be paranoid though

Environmentalists have done some good things for our environment. They have long since worn out their welcome and have become obstructionists to anything that doesnt' fit their ideology.

Mulkey the reason the mercury is high in tea and wine is some places use mercury gas to kill bacteria. Kill. Mercury is not ok I promise. I even share your conspiracy theories, or some of them, but mercury is bad period.

I think the aluminum is anodized. If it is the acid probably wont react.
