  • Hard Flaccid for 4 months. A series of stupid decisions.

Hi. I know this is a controversial topic here, but I need somewhere to vent. I believe I have given myself hard flaccid and it's sent me in to a full on existential crisis.

It all began in April this year when I decided I was going to start edging regularly in an effort to increase my stamina. I've been working from home this year so I was able to dedicate a lot of time to this, sometimes many hours a day. I thought I was doing well, and that this was all somehow beneficial, but on August 10th this all changed. Up until then I'd been doing my edging, but also I became somewhat obsessed with measuring my dick in an effort to get the highest reading I could get. All I had to measure was a plastic ruler, and as my dick has an upward curve to it I had been bending my erect member straight to get a better reading (smart move, I know). Nothing changed though until August 10th when I decided to do a little jelqing. I had done some PE a long time ago (when I was 17 I think, I'm now 29) so I thought I knew what I was doing. I soaked a dishcloth in hot water, and warmed up for about 5 minutes, before doing what I considered a short and pretty gentle set of jelqs (only about 50-100 reps max, starting flaccid, nothing most people would consider "dangerous"). After this I tried to have the customary wank to finish the session, but I found it very difficult to get hard, which has never happened to me before. I just put this down to my dick being worn out from all the attention I'd been giving it and in my stupid logic I thought this could be a good thing. I thought "if I can train myself to get off with a worn out dick, then once it heals I'll have even more control". Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Right off the bat I noticed changes - it took a lot of stimulation to get hard, and when the blood finally did start coming in, I could feel it spurting in to the different areas of my penis. I found that the erection I got in the end was harder than usual, it felt super tight but also less sensitive somehow. Again, in my stupid logic I remember thinking "this is awesome! A harder dick and I'll be able to last longer!". I did notice that I would go soft again much more quickly once I stopped stimulating it, but again I chalked this up to "being a bit worn out". I never thought for a second that these problems might be permanent, and so I soldiered on with the edging, working up this abnormally hard erection and going on as I had done before. I didn't do any more jelqing though, apart from one light session in the bath a couple of months later, and I swapped my hard ruler for a tape measure.

As time went on, the difficulties never went away. I began to notice other strange things, and the list of what I now know are symptoms of hard flaccid kept getting longer. I noticed that my glans was often softer than usual (I told myself it was just because the rest of my shaft was harder, so it was probably nothing), sometimes I noticed that weird "baseball bat" dent in the base of my penis which I now know is a sign of Peyronie's (I just figured that it was a perceptual thing, or that I had foreskin inflammation or something that was making the base look thinner in comparison). The one thing I didn't notice was a hard flaccid penis, and I think this is why I didn't come across this condition earlier.

Fast forward to a few days ago, and I was starting to get worried. It was still very difficult to get it up and maintain so I started googling in an effort to find out how long this might take to heal. That's when I came across this blog post which lists the following symptoms:

-No morning erections when waking up since the condition took hold – before that they occurred daily.
    -More difficult to achieve erections
-More difficult to maintain erections, this is particularly noticeable when stood upright.
-The penis feels constantly ‘hard’, even when it is in what looks like a flaccid state. Veins are more noticeable on the penis.
-It is more difficult to urinate, and occasionally can be painful – the flow of urine is ‘weaker’ (I’ve had this confirmed by a flow test).
-After masturbation/during ejaculation there can be a slight pain/ache in the base of the penis (the part which is inside the body, if that makes sense).
-Erections feel simultaneously ‘hollow’, yet also become extremely rigid, much more noticeable than usual.
-Erections not as full, the head of the penis doesn’t fully ‘inflate’ during erections.
-Very occasional extremely sharp pains in the perineum (the area between the scrotum and anus).
-The penis feels semi-numb, and less receptive to stimulation, as if the nerves are being impaired in some way (they are).
I saw a lot of what I had experienced in these so I did some experiments to see if I had any other symptoms. I tried standing up with a boner, and found that it disappeared almost immediately, even with stimulation. I realised that I couldn't remember the last time I had morning wood, even though it used to happen all the time. I did some squeeze tests on my flaccid and found that it felt like there was a 3/4" rubber tube running through it. I began to panic, and that hasn't really stopped. I started looking for as many cases as I could in an effort to find some solution, but the same thing kept coming up again and again - this is permanent. A few people have gone in to remission, but they all put their recovery down to weird, new-age "wellness techniques" and/or physical therapy. My cynical mind tells me that they were probably just lucky and went in to spontaneous remission, which they attribute to other factors. The vast majority of people who seem to have had this have found that it's never gone away. There are many accounts on this forum of people trying to do something to heal, but usually these people seem to just disappear after a while with no results.

So I'm posting here in a desperate plea for help, support, and to serve as a possible warning to others. Has anybody healed after having hard flaccid for several months, apart from that guy flogging his book? Is there any hope, or am I doomed to having a broken dick for the rest of my days? I've been living with anxiety and depression for 10 years before this even happened, and now that I've figured out what's happening I have lost all hope. Life just doesn't feel like it's worth living any more.

If you are one of those people posting about your hard flaccid in the past that disappeared, do you still have it now? Does it get any better at least? For now I'm trying to rest it as much as possible, taking hot baths every day, and gently massaging my perineum whenever I can, but it seems to have little effect... Does cialis/viagra help? I can deal with most of the symptoms but having to vigorously wank my softie for 5 minutes any time I want to get it up is a deal-breaker, there's no way I could do that with a woman present.

EDIT: Sorry for the long post, I was trying to be concise, but it's such a complicated thing. Believe it or not there is a lot I left out.

EDIT 2: Due to my obsessive measuring, I also have lots of photos from before, during, and after the time I contracted hard flaccid. I'm not sure if they really show anything as I never really got the turtling that most people report, but I'm willing to post if there's interest.

Thanks for the link. I've been staring at diagrams, trying to massage my Bulbospongiosus and Ischocavernosus to relieve some of the tension, as well as trying some of the yoga poses and reverse kegels that people have suggested in other threads over the years. I understand that this is probably a spasm in one of the muscles in my pelvic floor region, and I find it astounding that something as simple as a muscle spasm can seemingly be so permanent. I'm going to book a doctor's appointment tomorrow too, but if other people's experiences are anything to go by I'm just likely to get probed and referred around for weeks only to be told it's all in my head... still, I think it needs to be done. As an admin here, I imagine you've seen more of these sorts of stories than I have. Have you seen anybody improve in time? Have you seen anybody make a recovery, or close to it?

I think Admin Pegasus is a better source. Hopefully he'll spot this thread.
If memory serves, I believe some had found relief.
Might look through some of the posts.

Thanks for the help. It's honestly a relief just to get this off my chest and talk to someone about it, even if the outlook is grim. I fear that I will have seen many of the posts you're referring to, and have seen a lot of Pagasus' posts on the issue. It seems like he's sick of hearing about it tbh, and tends to recommend physical therapy (which I will hopefully be able to pursue in the future) and to work on anxiety issues (I've been working on them for 10 years now, so I can't see myself resolving them now of all times).

Hey man, chill down. I have hard flaccid aswell and its not a big deal, totally reversable.

This is due Tina trauma in your pelvic floor muscles, its your isciocavernosus or bulbocavernosus muscle that is cramped, thats all it is, a cramped muscle.

What you need to do; you need to Google up reverse kegels and hindu squats, start doing these Everyday, Also look for sore or tender spots At the pelvic area, if you find some, massage it until it goes away, it can take days weeks of daily treatment, its a triggerpoint.

Whatever you do dont freak out because its nothing major, ive had all of your symptoms, ive got rid of them all except the flaccid can feel rubbery from time to time.

Just do what i Said and Also apply Heat whenever you can.

You Will notice difference in a couple of weeks, then keep going.

Thanks Drjohn, that's very reassuring. I will take your advice and start to incorporate hot compresses (I'm already taking a lot of hot baths to try to remedy it) and Hindu squats into my rehab regimen. I've been trying to find knots in my pelvic floor muscles and massage them out, but I haven't really felt anything happen down there. Perhaps I just need more practice. May I ask how long these symptoms have lasted for you in the past? Did your symptoms come and go or was it constant (as it seems to be for me)? From what I've read there are a lot of people for whom this has been a temporary thing who could give it a little rest and TLC for a couple of days and return to normal, but there are others that have had it for years. The fact that I've had this for almost 4 months before I realised what was going on concerns me a lot, as I think I may have put myself into that second group due to my own ignorance.

The lucky ones just get a straining that heals with rest, the other ones of US develops triggerpoints and tense muscles which needs stretching.

My symptoms were consistent, started seeing improvements after a couple of weeks.

                  The most important things;
Be consistent and do the stretches, im sure many of those who has it for years just do some half-assed routine and looses their head over the injury.

Already avoiding them, once or twice a day I'm trying to do some gentle reverse kegels while I get the hang of them. The thing is I kept edging for almost 4 months after symptoms first appeared in ignorance, so I fear I may have really done a number on myself...

Currently sitting here with a microwaveable stuffed dog jammed in to my crotch. I guess this is my life now.

Thanks for the insight, it gives me a glimmer of hope. I'm going to make pelvic health my number one priority from now on. I'd give everything I own to have my bits back in working order.

                            Interesting case here,

I have had what I expect to be hard flaccid ever since I could remember masturbating brought about from improper masturbation habits. If you were edging for hours and not being conscious of your pelvic floor it is easy to see where your condition arose. Like you I find it difficult/impossible to achieve a full erection from stimulation alone, and if I do it is quickly gone.

I have been working religiously towards fixing this problem for 4 months now. Mainly using a regiment of excercise, RKs, yoga, hindi squats and stretches. As of now I have seen marked improvements. I have experienced this for 10 years and will not be fully cured anytime soon but hopefully your case will resolve itself much quicker.

I am intrigued yet confused about this 3/4" chord you mention in the penis. I have only recently become aware of this chord when I started jelqing, especially when my jelqing was too intense and became sore. Doing my own research it seems this is fairly common and consistent in most penises(a ligament I believe) and has no effect whatsoever on erections or lack there of. If you could elaborate, as with jelqing I only experienced a slight rise in the hardness of my erections but no other adverse effects.

Just an aside, as someone who has experienced anxiety as well be aware that anxiety can also cause hard flaccid and route even the healthiest of penises. Mental health will be an important factor in recovery

                            Good luck friend!

Hi Cokafor, glad to hear that things are improving for you. Can I ask how much better things have gotten for you? I currently have to beat my dick like it owes me money for a good 5 minutes or so to achieve an erection. I can probably deal with the other symptoms in the short term but that one's the killer.

As for the tube, I believe what I'm feeling is the tunica. It should feel very squishy and flexible, but in my case it feels like a piece of underdone cannelloni pasta. This isn't a problem in itself I don't think, but it is symptomatic of a larger problem there pelvic floor. Reading around here it seems my case is a little unusual. For most people with HF, their penis will appear very small and very hard (I remember someone describing theirs as "hard as a rock") when it comes on, so they notice something wrong straight away. In my case though my flaccid penis has been bigger than usual if anything, and perhaps just slightly less flexible than usual. For this reason I just didn't notice that aspect, until I saw the symptoms for HF and really started to probe around down there. All the other symptoms have been constantly present though...
