This happend to me four years ago. During an episode of masturbation I noticed shortly afterwards ( the following morning ), that I had a lot of numbness, and loss of sensation in the glans. I was ill with a cold at the time, and was hoping it would return, like it usually does, but it never did. I've lost about 40% sensation, although I find it relatively easy to get an erection and orgasm, I need the physical stimulation to make this happen. I've thought a lot about the time this happened, and have realised that the numbness may have occured due to a restriction of blood flow to the glans caused by very mild paraphimosis. I don't very often mastrubate with the foreskin pulled down because it is tight and causes pain when fully erect. After I noticed the numbness, I had masturbated with the foreskin fully down, which was causing mild discomfort and tightness, but which I was prepared to tolerate for the increased sensation. This is the only thing in my mind that I can relate back to why this might have suddenly happened.
I have seen medical professionals recently, both a neurologist and urologist, had an EMG scan, and a physical examination, and both are normal. An EMG test is basically testing of the nerve channels from the brain to the penis - this came back normal. I can only assume then, that the problem is specifically located in the glans of the penis, which I don't believe are tested directly by the EMG?? I've also had blood tests, that can back normal.
Basically I'm posting this in order to get some feedback and opinions on things I might be able to try or suggest to my urologist if I go back to see him. He dosen't believe there is anything wrong, and believes it is a phycological problem, which it is not.
I've tried abstaining for sexual activitiy for two weeks but this actually worsened the feeling of numbness, when I did start mastrubating again. I'm 24, and otherwise healthy, do a lot of sports, and weight training and cardio. My conclusion really is that this is nerve damage to the glans caused by the restricted blood flow, caused by the tightness of the foreskin. As its been four years with no improvement its obvious that this is permenant damage, and that I will never regain the sensation, but I want to understand exactly what the problem is, and why it has occured and still hold out some hope that I may be able to improve the sensation in some respect, although I'm not keen on taking viagra as I don't believe this will solve the problem. Should also point out that I am uncircumsised.

Yeah, I'm in the process of having this happen. I'm going to go back to my GP to get a new referral to a urologist to have a frenuloplasty, and finally have it done. Its actually been my nervousness about the operation that lead me to putting it of for years and years. I hate to think that putting it off for so long actually ended up with it damaging the glans. I have only myself to blame, and have to live with that.
+ Also, I don't think the operation to lossen the frenulum will lead to a restoration of the sensation. I think the damage has been done already.
