  • Nerve injury healed - give it TIME!!

Figured it was time to share my first post after hanging around the boards for about 6 months. I experienced a frightening nerve injury about a month ago that has now healed completely. After reading several posts of guys sharing how freaked out they were, I wanted to post this to hopefully provide some hope for anyone who has damaged their penis through PE.

Here's the background. I am a 34 year old healthy guy. Started doing a very basic PE routine for about two months. Was just doing basic stretching, wet jelqs, V-jelqs and some dry jelqs from time to time. Have not told my wife about PE so I've had to exercise when I can, how I can.

I can't pinpoint exactly how I injured my penis...the only difference in my routine on the day of my injury was that, for the first time, I kegeled during all of my stretches as is suggested in JP90. Despite the fact that I had read alot of posts on how to do PE correctly, I hadn't read anything about using a proper grip to avoid putting pressure on the dorsal nerve. I was using an underhand grip during some of my stretches and gripping pretty tight right behind the glans.

It took a few days after the injury for me to fully notice what had happened. I had one blowjob after the injury during which I couldn't get completely hard, and then experienced the same thing during sex a few days later. 4 days after the injury, I noticed that the entire left side of my penis was almost completely numb. I attempted sex with my wife and could not get even a 25% erection. My penis felt cold, limp and lifeless. Needless to say, I began to freak out. Also, try explaining to your wife why your penis is not working all of the sudden. Not fun.

Did alot of reading and research and came to the conclusion that I had probably bruised my dorsal nerve. Read plenty of posts from guys saying that their injuries healed over time....some saying weeks, some months and some years! I was pretty scared. The one thing that was reassuring to me was that, since I wasn't doing anything extreme to my penis when I injured it, I was hopeful that the injury was only temporary.

Got ahold of some Ginko Biloba and Methyl-B12 (both of which are supposed to aid in nerve healing) and continued taking 3000mg of L-Arginine daily to aid in circulation (had already been taking L-arginine, pygeum, zinc and lecithin daily to increase my load volume). Did heat wraps daily. Took ibuprofen almost every day in hopes of reducing any swelling.

As the weeks went by with little to no improvement, I really began to freak out...to the point where I would sit up for hours at night googling nerve damage and penile injuries and so on and so forth. After about three weeks, I couldn't take it any longer and got some Viagra from a friend. Was able to get a pretty good erection, but still only about 80% EQ and had some difficulty reaching orgasm due to the numbness. However, the Viagra did allow me to perform for my wife, putting her mind at ease and, in turn, my mind more at ease as well.

Today makes exactly 31 days since the injury and I am FINALLY feeling myself again. I can reach 95% EQ and have almost all sensation back into my penis. It was almost like it healed overnight after a month of no morning wood, very weak erections, numbness, etc. I will say that I did get signs of nerve healing along the way, such as tingling and burning in the left side of my penis where the numbness was. My research showed me that these were good signs that healing was taking place, so experiencing them definitely gave me some hope.

Bottom line? I can't say for sure if the supplements helped or not, but the best things to do if you've experienced an injury are:

1.) Give your penis a rest - no PE, no masturbation, no nothing. The temptation will be for you to keep trying to see if your penis works or not, but resist. Leave the thing alone and let your body heal.

2.) Give it time. I know it sucks, but give it at least 4 weeks. Nerves in the penis regrow at a rate of 1mm per day. There is no overnight solution.

3.) Keep a good attitude. It's very possible that you can give yourself mental ED even after your body is healing/has healed. Stay positive and keep in mind that, most of the time, time heals all wounds.

4.) Take supplements that will help your body heal. Like I mentioned above, I took L-arginine, ginko biloba and Methyl-B12.

5.) This is just opinion/speculation, but I think that taking the Viagra did help with the healing. I believe it allowed fresh and healthy bloodflow into my penis during the night to aid in the healing process. I don't think this was necessary, but I believe it helped physically and definitely helped me mentally to see/know that I could still get a decent erection.

Hope this post is helpful to someone else who was freaking out like me and thinking that they had permanently ruined their penis at a young age. Chances are, you'll be just fine.

Will I go back to PE? Yes. But I am going to be extremely careful to avoid putting pressure on my dorsal nerve during my exercises in the future. If anyone has any wisdom/advice on how to do this, I'd love to hear it.

Bump. Anybody have advice on the best grip/technique to avoid injuring the dorsal nerve? Thanks in advance!

Update. Tried jelqing very lightly for about 10 mins a few days ago and numbness/nerve damage symptoms returned. Need to give it more time I guess. Too much, too soon! :-/

I also had a dorsal nerve injury. It happened when I was gripping the area a couple inches below the glans. I used a firm overhand grip and the next day, I saw some scarring. This happened in August of 2012. The scarring is still there. I feel weird tingling sensations when I rub the frenulum during masturbation (my intuition told me it wasn't sensitivity, but felt like a nerve impingement.

The tingling is still there and it concerns me. Because of this, I take a more conservative approach to stretching now. Also, you can can feel a physical deformation in the structure of the penis when you caress it (only when it's flaccid). When blood fills in during arousal, my penis looks like an hourglass.

I don't know much about nerve recovery except for the fact it is very slow. I'm just putting my story ou there to motivate others who may have any conservative yet safe approaches to stretching the penis 'caused I haven't.

Only thing I found that works that gives you an effective grip is nitrile gloves and toilet paper. Both give skin irritation (the former even worse). The scarring looks like a circumcision mark so I can play that off, but it makes me nostalgic of the days when my penis was completely clean and aesthetic, lol.

Update #2: after another week of leaving it completely alone, sensation has returned to normal. Will wait at least another 2 weeks before returning to any sort of PE.

Hey guys I think I might be in trouble. I added flaccid bends to my program and I think I got little bit too excited about them, so I did them much. Now I have this pain at the tip of my penis (meatus?) and some pain at the left side of the glans. I had this before too but I didnt realize what was the cause of those pains. So I did PE again and the pain got worse...I try to keep my penis warm now and stop doing Flaccid bends and jelqing. Maybe I'll continue jelqing in the future if I get OK. What do you think guys, is this permanent? :S

I think I maybe damaged/irritated the dorsal nerve. Would it be a good idea to watch some porn and get some bloodflow there? No masturbation. I would like to make sure that I even can have erection...(by watching porn.)

Do you think the heat wraps helped at all? I have had pretty much the same symptoms as you, and I have recently started using heat wraps as much as possible, and I'm starting to feel sensations in my dick that I haven't felt in a while. It feels great to touch myself and actually feel a response in my dick. I'm not completely healed, and definitely still far from where I want to be, but I seriously think that heat wraps will help any nerve injury, or any injury for that matter. I will continue doing heat wraps and report back later with an update and let you guys know if there is any improvement.

@ymj829 Your has given some decent hope on the possibility of recovering from my injury (I am experiencing shooting pains and numbness and sometimes a feeling as if it is cold). Stupidly I masturbated only 7 days after I injured myself and it caused shooting pains right at the tip; Do you think that it is likely that I will recover from this? I am very scared and concerned.

is in my case, the cause of loss of sensitivity damaged nerve?
I feel the touch of and pain when pinch.
That is, superficial sensitivity is present, but I do not feel the penis inside.
Do not feel the excitation inside the penis and orgasm.
