The washer between the device and the wingnut got stuck and wouldn't move for anything (the wingnut unscrewed easily but the washer stayed in place and would not budge). I was afraid I was going to have to find a hack saw or go the the ER to get the device off. Only when I was able to retighten the wingnut just a hair more did the washer come lose....if the device had been a been a hair tighter (i usually try to get it as tight as i can), not allowing for any movement at all, I'm really not sure what I would have done...other than panic. Any tips for avoiding this? How important is the washer? I may try the device without engaging the washer. Thanks!
