Hey everyone,
I made the switch to compression hanging after getting frustrated with blisters in my vacuum hanger. I think most of the questions on forums usually deals with people going up in weight too quickly, and so I did the following analysis based on Bib's reported gains and how much time he actually spent hanging.
So he claims to have gained 4.5 inches in 2 years, hanging around 15 sets a day (5 hours a day, not including rest time). He also says that he thinks he could have had the same results with only hanging around 12 sets a day (4 hours a day). A lot of people discount his claims, but have these critics even come close to accumulating the thousands of hours he has?
If you take 4 hours a day x 2 years = 2,922 hours of hang time
Bib also writes that he was hanging up to 45 lbs to induce fatigue by the end of his training period. If you spread out the weight increase in 1.25 lb increments (standard CAP weight gradation), evenly over time, that leads to around 81 hours at each weight level (i.e. going from 5lbs to 6.25lbs after 81 hours)...
Moreover, he advocates (as others have on this site) that people use the LOWEST possible weight that induces fatigue and then ride that fatigue with a drop in weight. If you are unable to focus on another task while hanging or you are watching the clock to end your set, you are hanging too heavy!
I'll be trying to validate or disprove the efforts of these claims, but it seems we all just need more patience.
So here's to riding fatigue, and most importantly, focusing on hanging time instead of hanging weight.
I'm 183 hours into my compression hanging career. When I measured, after 100 hours, I had gained 1/8th of an inch. An update will come at 200 hours.
Cheers and happy holidays, and happy hanging : ]

I was using the LG Hanger, but I prefer compression hanging for now.

Just wanted to update:
as of 213 hours in the log, I've gained another 1/8th of an inch, so my total gains since using the total man hanger are .25"....currently at 6.25 NPBEL...currently using 6.25-10lbs to reach fatigue (depending on the day and then decreasing gradually for the remaining sets)
