question about homemade device use?

do you go all the way from the base all the way beyond the tip of the penis? or do you roll between the base of the penis and just before the tip where the glans are? i looked at a few "official" jelq devices and they say dont roll over the tip of the penis. anyones thoughts?

All the way from the base to just below the glans. There are a lot of sensitive nerves in there that you don't want to jelq because you can end up damaging them and that will result in a loss of sensitivity.
