What's so great about the Bathmate?

I am not quite sure why so many people seem to praise the Bathmate over regular ordinary pumps. Does the fact that its a 'water pump' make it that much better? I own one and have used it a few times but I tend to get a much better suction with an ordinary air pump. But perhaps I didn't give it a fair chance. So humor me if you will, what makes the beloved Bathmate so superior in the PE community? Has anyone actually seen gains with it? And can it be used without water?

all the Bathmate does is give me a rash around where it touches my skin since you have to push down with all your might to produce any suction.

used it for one year and got 1cm extra girth, maybe doesnt sound much but its feels like a new penis to me.

I think its a great product, and i lov using it, but I was fine before it, and if anything happens to it, i wont miss it too severely from my workouts.
Ive gained over all about .4 of an inch in length, but I dont solely use bathmate. It does leave me extra pliable and plump afterwords longer. It also seems safer than an air pump but ive never owned an airpump so have a lil salt with my advice.

It prevents irregular stretching that an air pump will not. It will also not allow you to pump to the extreme which makes it a little safer. When you pump with air your penis is at room temp. When you use the bathmate you are using warm/hot water which is better for blood circulation. I have experienced some great gains with it. I can put it on and then finish my shower then exit. So essentially I am using bath time to do a workout on my penis. Time that otherwise would not be spent on a workout.
