At this moment that is what im am using and its going ok but i want to know if homemade is just a starter and or do i need to go ahead and buy one. basically can i gain with just using a sock hanger and some light manual work.

You might make some inital gains with a homemade hanger. However they can only take so much weight before you have problems with slippage. (So I've heard). I bought a bib hanger right off the bat and I'm loving it. I'm at 10lbs right now, and I can tell you from my experience, I just don't see a sock hanger being able to cope with that much weight, let alone when you get passed that. With that said, you might want to make a sock hanger first just to see how you react/like hanging. Good luck!!

      P.S.....never hang erect!!
Just hanging around as usual :)

I made my own AFB hanger recently, and hang in the 15-20 lb. range with NO problems. Great design IMO.

I made a captain wrench hanger that works fine............I was up to 10lbs but stopped because I had just started PE and from reading up on PE and posts here I was told I should go through the 90 day trainer for beginners before moving on to more advanced exercises.

thanks for the good info. I am hanging with 20 lbs tho with the stock hanger, hopefully i don't need any more weight on it, and this will be good enough to have success and gain about .5 to .7 in length. idk I'm still new to this whole hanging thing. idk if straight up or down would better for gains or what hopefully ill get lucky and choose the right way in targeting for length.

I have both a muzzle hanger and a captn wench.
I hanged 40lbs with my muzzle at one point. Just needed more wrapping and i use a big blue clamp.
My captn wench handles up to 20lbs.Retired it when i made my muzzle, I uses it as an ADS nowadays.
The muzzle hanger was the cheapest. Around $10-15usd . Most comfortable hanger imo.

Man 40lbs sounds to heavy and painful. 20lbs fills like its pulling my penis off. have you gained anything with your captain wench or muzzle hanger, and how long till you notice it.

My capnt wench was used in the early stage of my Pe. Massive girth gains back then, around and inch at the base. Length was probably around 0.25 inches over a year, on and off of hanging and pe. This was just from hanging 10lbs. Stopped due to turkey neck. Took me almost 2 years to get back into hanging.

I restarted hanging this year. It took me 4 months to gain with the muzzle. I gained 0.5 inch lenght and 0.4 in girth at the base.
I did a heavy hanging routine, its not recommended for beginners. I hang only one 20min session followed by jp routine. 2 days on/one day off.

Starting weight is 8lbs. Mostly started to gain at heavier weight, around 22-25lbs.
My gains could have been bigger but I did not wamp up or down most times. I sometimes could not hang past 14mins cause of fatigue from hanging. Also missed many days in my routine due to schedule.

My starting weight is higher because I done PE, clamping etc on and off for some years now. Most ppl can hang only 2-5lbs. I can hang around 12lbs before i feel any fatigue at all. I personally gained a lot of base girth from hanging, and use pe exercises to reduce "cone effect".

I have stopped hanging. My gf complained I was getting to big.

if you're new to hanging you should start light. 2-3 pounds for ten and then later twenty minute sets. dont go above 5 pounds for at least a few months. this is really a case of heavier isnt better.

at first you need to stretch your ligaments, you can do this with relatively light weight. you don't need more than 5 pounds until you are stretched out well, this can give you anywhere for 1/2 inch to an inch of gains. after that you add weight to elongate the tunica.

you need to focus on relaxing the pc muscle. you need to use lots of heat, even during sets can be a good idea. you need to try to do more time, not more weight.

if you're new, don't rip your dick off trying to hang heavy.

Why dont you just buy a BIB hanger. Im sure if you are serious about this you can afford $100 or so?

BIB is like the hanging guru since he gained so much (he says he went from 6 to 10.5 in 2 years of dedicated hanging) and he built several hangers in the process.

He also explains on his website etc how to hang, how much, how to increase, and at what angle to hang and WHY. Its not very likely that you are going to gain unless you do this systematically. First target your ligaments, then your tunica...after you are satisfied with your length then you can start manual work or use the uli thing which is basically a rubber tube with a clamp.

I tried hanging with a loop for a couple weeks up to about 7 lbs. That was all the loop could do before it slipped and its dangerous anyway.

When my BIB starter arrived (pretty much everyone uses the starter now... I read all the info that BIB discusses on his website and on Thunders Place.

I have been using it for 3 weeks or so and honestly it works to hang. You have to wrap and it takes some practice...but it works.

I went up in weight way too fast so dont do what I did...(Im pretty hardcore in everything I try) so I CAN hang up to 15 lbs for 20 minutes after only 3 weeks...but that is pretty stupid on my part...although I have gotten away with it...dont do that....go up gradually...but I have to drop down to as low as 10 lbs after my 15 lb set....Im doing about average of 5-6 of the 20 minute sets per day with breaks in between for good blood flow....(you don't want a dead penis I assume)...

Im hanging between the cheeks...basically sitting or almost lying down with the weights between your legs/butt....Not my favorite position and Im still working on the right chair..but the stretch to the ligaments is incredible. You are supposed to totally stretch your ligaments out and THEN move to various types of tunica stretch..weights over your shoulder....fulcrum devices...etc.

                          Pretty sophisticated plan actually.

I thought it was just a matter of standing there with weights straight down...and that surely is easiest...but apparently not the most effective.

I gained about 0.5 inches I THINK ...Im still finalizing my measuring methods....in the first 2 weeks of hanging around 7-10 lbs...that was the newbie gains...nothing like that now....if I gained 1/8 th per month Id be very happy...

ITS A LOT OF WORK to hang I admit.

I expect to hang at downward angles for months to a year or more, then move to the upward angles for a similar time period and then finally work on girth.

Im 6.75 to 7 BPFSL and about 5 MSEG. My NBP is more like 5.75 even though Im pretty thin.

Please read about all this. You need to do some tests on yourself before you can determine which angle is best...but I note that for almost everyone who is not hung like a porn star (where the penis almost looks like its coming right out the anus) you need to hang BTC or SD first for quite some time.

1/8 per month would be over 1 inch in a year....well worth it.

I dont think I can do it manually....some people may have huge hands and very strong arms, but I cant see manually doing PE for an hour per day. And some of the exercises like fowfers seem pretty silly to me. Compared to hanging over 5 lbs a fowfer is a joke. Im sure it cant hurt to do that for hours on end...but Im pretty sure its useless for 99% of people.

                          Good luck!
