Every time I hang, my penis gets cold presumably from lack of blood flow because it is too tight. How do I properly wrap the little guy to prevent any damage?

It is a bit tricky, because most of us only have at most two hands, but stretch your unit straight out and wrap it fairly tight. I use a combination of stretchy generic Ace type bandage (2") and a strip of theraband, held in place with a piece of athletic tape. And then squeeze the glans after you wrap to push blood out and avoid the Uber-jelq effect of your hanging pushing too much blood into your glans. (The Uber-jelq can be quite uncomfortable when administered by 25 lbs of weight!)
Then make sure that you take a break for 10 minutes every 20 minutes or so and massage fresh blood into your cock so it doesn't fall off from lack of blood. If is has gotten cold, make sure you reapply your rice sock (or heating pad, or whatever.)

Thank you very much for your thorough explanation. So is it normal for it to get cold during a hanging session? I've made a captain's wench and I find that it gets cold every time. Also, I've noticed that after hanging it tends to turtle up. Is that normal as well?

Mine sometimes gets cold as well. However, unlike using an Extender, where it will be on for at least one hour, with hanging, you only are doing 20 minute sets, so this is usually too small of an amount of time to do major damage,although if done improperly, it really can (do major damage, like to the dorsal vein, nerve damage etc).

I totally understand what pirate says about it being hard even with 2 hands. I only use the ace wrap. I place some of the wrap under my penis, and hold that there with the hand that is holding my penis, usually my right. I then proceed to wrap with left hand, and being that you have to "go over" the hand that is holding your penis, after each revolution I do the same thing, holding the wrap tight with the hand that is holding my penis.

Make sure you warm down. That will help with the turtling.
