Hey,
So, after reading up on hanging a bit more, and wanting something a bit better than my current method, I started looking into the "Snake Hanger". I liked the idea of this one because it was cheap and easy. Unfortunately for me, I was unable to find the pipe repair clamp in my area. Not wanting to spend a lot of money ordering it from overseas, I started thinking about making one from scratch.
I started out with a piece of paper, came up with some measurements, and a couple minutes later I had myself a paper template/model. I opened up PS and drew up a rough template so that I always had a copy of it. (You can see this for yourself in the attachments).
The next day, I marked out the measurements, and started to cut away. After about 5-10 mins of cutting/filing/drilling, I had my prototype. It wasn't perfect (as you will see), but from the looks of it, it was going to get the job done, which was fine by me, because I didn't pay for any of the materials or tools as they were all on hand.
Below is the template I used to make the hanger. The Diameter is ~1.5 inches.

The bottom of the hanger (showing the two tabs for hanging weight): As you can see, it isn't a perfect circle, but it gets the job done just fine.

Below is an example of the hanger with 2.5 pounds (My starting weight).

And here is a quick image to show how it is all connected:

For a maximum of 30mins all up, and a $0 cost, I would say that it was well worth the effort.
As I have said before this is really only my prototype (or test version), but I am happy with the results. It may not be perfect, but it's not like anyone is going to see it.
I may make another version, with a little more time spent on it to work on the visual aspect of it. I may also look into coating the inside/edges with silicone to give it both a softer finish, as well as add a bit of extra padding.
I hope this helps to show members out there that, not everything in the PE world has to cost you an arm and a leg. There are a lot of DIY PEr's out there, and without them, we wouldn't have half the devices we have today. So get out there and get inventing. You never know what you might come up with that may just change the PE world.
