I'm in the alternative health field and I would say I'm pretty in tune with my body. As a matter of fact, I've noticed that I'm more sensitive to positive and negative stress since I've detoxed and stayed away from processed, genetically modified foods and such.
Anyway, when PE-ing, I notice that when I warm up and stretch, my body seems to love it. The stretch feels great. My ligs are singing. I can tell my body perceives it as a good stress.
But when I jelq (especially now--I"m thinking I hit a plateau or something) I start to get a feeling in my dick that is negative. I'm dead serious. I think my body perceives it as a negative stress because I can almost feel my dick imploding. And I start to get a slight ache. At the same time, I don't feel over-trained per se, but I don't feel like I'm doing myself any good. I don't engorge that much and it tires out my dick very quickly.
I thought this was because of too many training days in succession, but I just took 3 days off in a row and still the same.
HOWEVER, when I balloon, I can sense that my dick absolutely loves it! I'm in ecstasy, my dick is in ecstasy and it feels like a really good, productive activity. The stretch from the blood pushing against my CC feels fantastic and I couldn't be happier. Afterward, my dick hangs like a happy log, fully engorged and taking in the sights. I swear, it's like my dick has a pair of sunglasses on!
So this pretty much demonstrates to me that I'm not overtraining (because I can continue to PE in different ways and stay productive), but rather that I'm training in an unbalanced way or that I'm not using the right routine.
I've been switching up my routine every week for the past few weeks for this reason. But now that I have a grasp of how my body responds to these different exercises, I'm going to try something different. For the next couple weeks, until the end of February, I'm going to try a 'Ballooning Only' routine, w/ stretching and kegeling of course. What the routine won't have is any sort of jelqing.
Because to me, there are only two possibilities: 1) I can't jelq productively w/o incorporating ballooning (which I wasn't doing prior to this discovery) OR 2) ballooning alone is better for me than jelqing. Either way, as I test out this new routine, I will find out what works best.
Anyone have any thoughts. . .

Interesting. I hope some of the experts weigh in on this, but my thought is that you should go with what seems to be working for you. Please keep this thread going and let us know what you learn and whether you gain from it.

One aspect that I have taken from years of PE is that my penis needs variation in exercises. Like you some weeks my dick doesn't respond well to jelqing or stretching. I often have to decondition to give him time to heal or soften back up.
This time around I am treating my dick more like a muscle based workout. Where you change up every 10-12 weeks with the routine, to stop the plateau effect that always seems to kick in with me. Maybe for the hard gainers like myself, this is maybe the way forward. Some guys are blessed when they do a very basic routine and get incredible gains. I however fight tooth and nail for every last thou. Rubirosa, maybe your ballooning workouts will allow you the time to decondition from Jelqing without stopping a PE regime. Certainly an interesting theory. One that I may dabble in to see what effect it has on me. Wouldn't mind changing back and forth between say a jelq/hanging routine for 2-3 months then cross over to an ADS/Squeezing routine. Certainly should keep the shock factor up anyways.If you build it, she will cum!

I like this "Ballooning Only Theory". I'm not a huge fan of Flaccid jelqs, they just feel weird to me. I'm a fan of the alternative methods of growth, edging, ballooning, erect kegels. Happy exercising!Starting (November 22, 2009):
