  • Normal breathing and kegels

How important is it breathe normally when performing kegels, bc I am find this very difficult. When I concentrate on breathing I feel like I cannot isolate the appropriate muscles as well, Bc I am not still. On the contrary, I prefer to hold my breath the first few seconds and then gradually exhale until I complete the kegel hold. I only inhale if I feel the need. I was wondering if this is an ok breathing technique, as long as I'm not straining. Is there anyway this technique could put me at a greater risk for inguinal hernia when doing reverse kegels?

I use triangular breathing while kegeling.

IN breath as I tense up the muscle, moving the squeeze from front to back, then letting out the breath as I let the squeeze go front to back. Then a pause in breathing as I hold the reverse kegel.

If I am just doing the rapid tense/untense (usually do a count of 100 as I let the car warm up, etc) breathing is immaterial.
