  • Why do we use the outdated Emperical model for measurements instead of Metric System?

But seriously, why do we use a system that's harder to calculate with and not used in science?

Funny thing is a that the imperial system isn't the same everywhere. Metric system is.

England is even worse, using both systems... such a confusing mess.

We use both! Well... I use both!

No requirement to use it. Measure how you want.

Pahahah, I like the American answer!

I tend to use both imperial and metric also. Measuring a guys height not in feet but rather in 1.5 meters or whatever just sounds weird.

I am old enough to remember the old system. I hated the Imperial system when I was at school, you know, all those stupid questions like how many feathers weighing x ounces would you need to pluck of how many geese if each goose has n feathers, will it take to fill a container of final weight of 2 short tons, 2 long tons.... A fucking pain in the arse. Also there were weird measures like Rods, Perches, Roods, Bushels....Troy weights it goes on and on.

I don't care for the German temperature scale Fahrenheit either. Here I just use whatever scale is closer to my size, I am actually 18 cm EL, that is a tad over 7" but a few points over is neither here nor there.

                  Um were those metric tons?

No they were tons in the Imperial system, there is more than one type of ton.

One hundred weight = 112 lbs, One Chain = 33 yards, a very obscure system. You should know American pints, quarts and fluid ounces are not the same as Imperial pints, quarts and fluid ounces. From memory 1 pint imperial is 16 fluid ounces.

I think it would be easier to use hands to measure length and stone to measure weight.

For example, my BPEL is 1.45 hands and I weigh 14 stone. Now doesn’t that make everything clear.

Weigh myself in stones and pounds, not bleedin' kilos.

I got stoned and weighed myself also. Turns out the potato chips I ate during the munchies weighed at least a bleeding kilo.

Forgot about Stones. Americans, a Stone = 14 lbs, so 10 Stones is 140 lbs. I have no idea what Stones means in reality anymore except 16 Stones sounds like it is very heavy.

Tamora, you do know that mainland Europeans think you lot are just a bunch of horse faced savages whose major form of entertainment is Sodomy.
