Thread: Tightness of jelqing grip

I was a little disappointed after I didn't make any newbie gains in my first month. Yes, I know people gain at different speeds and all that. I didn't let it dishearten me, so rather than get upset about it, I decided to ensure that my PE technique was the absolute best it could be.
My jelqing grip has been pretty tight in my first four weeks. Not tight enough to cause injury or pain but it could accurately be described as a bit of a squeeze. I haven't been able to watch the jeqling guide videos in the exercise section of the site until now because I'm usually on my Mac which doesn't play embedded wmv files. I finally watched the videos and the guy demonstrating appears to have a very light grip.
I tried a lighter grip myself tonight and I think it felt better, like more blood was being pushed up the shaft towards the head. Does using a tighter grip (not injury-inducingly tight, but firm) generally have a lesser effect? Does it prevent the blood from moving so much by narrowing the veins with the pressure? Does the penis become conditioned to a tighter grip and so do more experienced PE'ers grip harder?

good question, i'd like to know the answer as well. i'm sure as long as you don't grip harder than when you masturbate you shoudl be ok. but i've only been doing this for 2 weeks so we'll see.

I go light for the first set when it is not so erect then increase the tightness with each set. As long as you feel the blood milking through, that is hard enough IMO.

See I personally get my best results with a firm grip. It doesn't hurt and its not at all uncomfortable, but its firm. Say you are jelqing at 60%, I don't think you should be squeezing your dick to the point in goes in, if you know what I mean, but I do think there should be a tiny bit of resistance. For instance, if you make an OK grip and squeeze your thumb as hard as you can, obviously thats too hard. But if you are just holding your thumb, I think thats too light (for me at least). I'd say grip with 60% force so your fingers easily move up your shaft, but there is a the slightest resistance. I don't know if this makes sense, in my head it does though haha. Anyhow, this level is where I see the best gains and I average about .2-.25 a month in girth gains so far.
On the other hand, I made length gains initially, and none for the last 5-6 weeks. I am hoping I make some come July 30th. I think that was due to over stretching, so I backed off.

Once more guys, one size does not fit all. I used a very firm grip, others go significantly lighter. You said you weren't happy with the results of the tight grip and think maybe lighter will work. Guess what? If light works for you go for it. Try that for a few weeks and see what you think. Still unsure, then go for grip half way between light and tight. It is up to you through experimentation to determine what is best for you. Now if you were asking us if you should try something that could cause damage, then we would tell you not to do it.

IN my own persoanl experience too, if I do a semi slow jelq, say 3-5 seconds a little firmer grip seems to be better, if I do a super slow jelq, the lighter grip seems to work, these depend on erection levels too. But KingPole is right, if you are starting out, everything should be lighter.

My grip varies depending on erection level. The harder I am the softer my grip is.Starting Size (09/2009): ~7"BPEL x ~5" MSEG
Most Recent Measurement (08/13/2012): 8"BPEL x 5.5"MSEG
Final Goal: When I'm told to stop.
