So I've done PE for a little over a month. Slight gains, hard to say. My routine is VERY light (following a guide set out on thunders for a potentially 'injury proof' method). Only started stretching a couple weeks ago; thus far exercise consisted of mostly jelqing and kegels. every other day. I took a break for the past 4 days because last weekend I found I had a hard time getting it up during sex (although once hard it was as hard as ever). Also felt very uncomfortable around the head area during sex itself.
I'm convinced the manual stretches somehow caused the problem. The discomfort was mostly in the head area and especially around the ridge of the glands (where the grip is applied). I'm at a cross roads here. I could stop entirely to come back at a future time. OR I'm considering reducing my routine entirely to jelqing. My mind is already conditioned to PE, so it's difficult to stop. It has felt less uncomfortable the past few days, although there is still a slight soreness in said area.
Curious what the veteran consensus is on which exercises cause the most problems.

Just guessing, but you may have distressed a nerve, and that could be the cause of feeling the discomfort. For that alone, I would take a break from whatever PE you've been doing, until the discomfort goes away entirely. I had something like this once, although not in the same area, and it took 3 days or so to show definite improvement, and about a week before it seemed normal again.
Most of the guys here do some form of manual stretching, and without problems. I would review the stretching articles here. Remember when stretching to get your grip below the glans, and try not to exert grip force on it. (I know the glans seems useful for maintaining your grip position, LOL, but don't grip on it.)
Good luck.PE: Change WE can believe in...

Maybe your stretching and grabbing just a bit too hard?

Good advice. I appreciate it. after a 4 day break I did a set of just jelqing (with a reduced number) and kegels. Amazing morning wood today. My girlfriend's visiting this weekend, so I'll have the chance to see if the issue has been remedied.
Do you think it makes a difference where you grip for stretching? I was thinking of trying to space it about a cm or so below the glans.

I think experimenting with gripping points along the shaft is a good idea, nobody ever tries closer to the base.
By the way, how old are you? If you don't mind me asking man...

I think gripping near the glans is the best, because you'll strech all your penis then. Think if you'll grip near base you'll only strech base and squeeze the penis behing your hand. It's just what I think

Yes but you'll also be working on pulling the inner penis out and hitting the fundiform ligament a little better I feel.
I haven't done much stretching though so it's really just a theory on my part.
