I've seen posts before about people wondering the best way to measure, so I thought I'd share what I do. This site has alllll sorts of printable rulers. They're free, available pretty much anywhere, and you can easily customize and mark them to record gains visibly.

You can also record girth with them, since paper can be wrapped around the willy

Great measuring for girth although we'll all come down about 1/8th in width - as string, headphone wires are all thicker than paper - (
I doubt you could do bone-pressed length with paper though.
