Why do guys feel smaller than what they really are?

when I first came to this site I felt so small, like everyone was bigger than me by alot, but then I measured myself for the first time in years ( I was scared to actually know how big I was ) to know what my starting point was, and realized my length was actually above average.( 6.4 inches non bone pressed, 7.125 bone pressed ) Same with my girth too, I never really thought it mattered much until I came here, and when I measured it I was blown away by how thick I was compared to the averages( 6 inches mid shaft, and a little shy of 6.5 inches at the base ). So once I realized that I was bigger than average i decided to not go through with the jelqing since I got some added confidence from the numbers, but even now I still get that rush of insecurity every once in a while and measure myself just to reaffirm I'm not small. I can't even figure out why I was ever insecure about in the first place tbh.

I know I'm not the only one who feels like this judging from the posts I see,so my question is, if you feel small despite what your measurements say, why do you feel this way?

WE are conditoned to put ourselves down, so we see ourselves smaller than we really are. And porn makes porn stars look bigger than they really are.

Mostly because from our view from the top, it will always look smaller than it really is, as well as us having lived with it and seeing it every day. Once you get used to the size of something, it's never going to look too impressive or of the size it really is. It's just like some big screen TV's. After a while, the size just stops looking impressive and your mind starts thinking it's nothing special, just a normal, small TV.

Now, take something the same size of your penis and put it next to other house hold objects or hold it out in front of you, it looks a hell of a lot bigger than what you're used to, as the way you're looking at it has changed.

Then there's the people who believe 8"+ penises are a dime a dozen and think anything less then that is tiny.

I suppose you're right, maybe it is just being desensitized to it after seeing it so long. Still it just aggravating not seeing myself the way I should see myself. I just started measuring this year, so I guess ( hope) over time I'll get used to it and be fully happy with what I got, since it seems I was blessed in a way and not being satisfied almost seems like I'm being an ingrate or something lol.

Reference the point made about objects and how they compare. I once noticed how thick a maglite flashlight appeared. When I measured the circumference it was 4.75". I am 5" but the flashlight looks thicker. Weird? TP rolls are another example of this.

I always saw myself as long but on the thinner side with my girth. I don't think it is that we always feel smaller we just want to be the "big one" you know the one I am talking about. Porn has disorted our point of view when it comes to sex. Without it most of us would not be on this site and would be fine with our equipement.

I was less than 5 inch BPEL, and before I came to this site, I thought I was average (not small). Then I found out the average is around 5.5, and I was like "oh shit, I am on the smaller side".

I always thought I was small. Until I got my first hand job. Got a compliment, but still didn't feel much more than average.
I know I'm big now, I know now I started well above average in length.
It's really whatever at this point... I still don't feel big from looking straight down at it. It's kinda an odd feeling knowing you're big, but seeing not big.
I usually just slap myself in the face and compare it to household objects. That straight down perspective really kills things.
