Hey guys, I really want to start ballooning, but I simply can't get hard by just rubbing a 'magic spot'. Probably because I haven't found one. I've explored different areas and I can't find anything stimulating enough to get me hard.
I've been edging instead, and sometimes I get so close and my cock gets so hard that it actually feels like it is bursting out of its skin. It almost feels painful it is so hard, almost like I am going to pull or cramp or something. I imagine that this is what ballooning feels like, but THE WHOLE TIME. And I want in on this!!
Any suggestions for guys that either can't find their 'magic spot' or just can't get hard enough without masturbating or porn???
EDIT: I've tried searching for this, but just can't find any solutions to this problem.

Ballooning and edging are very similar. However, you don't cum when you balloon. It takes practice. Get to know the "ULI" exercises. It's kinda like ballooning. Also get your kegel muscles very very strong, because as you balloon/edge there will be times when you start to cum. If you feel the unstoppable urge to cum, squeeze your kegel muscles like a mother-fucker as hard as you can for about 10 seconds or so, and that will ward off the orgasm. You may spill some seed, but at least you will be able to stop the orgasm and continue with your exercises. Just keep practicing dude. You will get the hang of it. If the problem is that you cannot get hard, you will need to go a few days without masturbation and never ever watch porn. If you practice with porn, then you cannot perform well with a real girl (trust me on this).

I'm still a beginner, so not sure if Ulis are a good idea yet? I haven't looked into them yet as I promised myself I'd stick to the JP90 and not rush things. Once that is done, I'll obviously be looking into more stuff. Just don't want to rush it and injure my member!
On the same note, I'm keeping the kegels out of my edging sessions as I don't want to strain that area either. I am reverse kegelling and reverse root-lock kegelling however. I am following Minutemans guide to dry orgasm (including his 20 week kegel program), so will incorporate the kegelling into the edging sessions eventually.
I'm just worried that if I kegel during the sessions, I'll have a retro ejac and again, in minutemans guide, he says that that isn't good for you (if I read it correctly). Just super cautious about doing myself harm in this whole process!

If is good that you are cautious about this. Safety is one of the reasons I have written that guide.
You should keep kegels out of your edging session. If you notice in the pelvic floor routine for each exercise there is an entry of the allowed states you should do your exercises in for the level 0 and level 1 it is almost always flaccid.
Also if you don't plan to go for DO/MMO level 3 should be avoided since it is mostly reserved for those that want to have clean DO and balanced pelvic floor, for just the balanced pelvic floor level 0,1,2 are quite enough.

I am definitely planning on going for DO/MMO. I'm following your 20 week program to the tee. On to week 2 at the moment.
Thanks for the advice - I'll keep the kegelling out of the edging sessions for now. As mentioned, I do reverse kegel a bit and reverse root-lock, but that's only because I find myself clench involuntarily. Particularly the root-lock - I find I am almost constantly clenched sometimes without even noticing.
I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but it sure as hell explains why my root-lock kegels are so much stronger than my regular kegels!
