Thread: Are rest days necessary?

For a length only routine (I do have girth goals but want to hit length first), should I be doing any girth work at all?
I certainly do feel bombarded with information. The side to side stretches in the Jelq free routine seem to go against holding stretches for as long as possible at a time. So confused.
I have a an hour and a half easily to do exercises at night, don't have much spare money and work a warehouse job which involves a lot of movement, heavy lifting and awkward positions. So will probably hold out on getting an extender just now. I'm going to give traction wrapping a go, it will at least give me some experience wearing something down there for long periods.
The gains I believe were mostly EQ, but I think at least 0.15 - 0.2" of length is actual gains. Early 2012 I got dumped after a long term relationship, and my confidence/EQ was quite poor. After a few months of seeing my current girlfriend, ditching porn, reducing masturbation and starting PE, both confidence/EQ improved. I should really start a proper log on here, I have a paper copy. It wasn't quite as simple as doing JP for 3 months, I'd started it at the end of 2012 but lost track and started it again this year.
On a side note, on my 6th day of doing more stretching my unit felt a lot more elastic today. Warmed up an extra few mins by accident, might have been something to do with it.

I was just thinking of this today. I'm doing 5/2 currently and was wondering if I'm giving my penis enough time to rest. Is this the same thing as working on your biceps 5 times a week? In bodybuilding, you do at least 2 days rest between muscle groups. If not, the muscle growth will stunt itself.
I don't know if there are any similarities here, but it made me wonder. Maybe alternating between length and girth in a L => G => Rest => L => G => Rest ... would be better?Into 19th Month

I think it's best if we assume absolutely NO similarities between PE and BB. I think making analogies is okay, but actually applying BB principles to PE in the hopes that it will work the same would be a bit silly.

Having more girth requires you to place more pressure on your penis in order to induce deformation, which runs an increased risk of discomfort/injury. Same reason it's easier to stretch a skinny rubber band than a thick one.
Also, girth work DOES require rest days for sure, so I think you'd be slowing your length gains by allowing your penis time to heal and adapt on those days.
Holding a stretch in one place for as long as possible (and if anything slowly and slightly increasing tension, NEVER dropping lower) is most conducive to generating creep, which is when a structure gives in to pressure through extended time under tension. You only really need one stretch.

Yeah, but that's Bib. It's probably always advisable for beginners, and as long as length and girth follow separate protocols (and the latter inhibits the former), I think they should always be done sequentially, not simultaneously.
The only time you should mix length and girth, is if you want to maintain the proportions of your penis throughout your PE career, regardless of how much it slows down your progress.

I still think rest days should only be taken when you feel your dick needs them. Having a set schedule of rest days hinders progress because you don't know if your penis is actually fatigued enough to warrant a rest day, but you take it anyway to stay "on schedule". My early experience anyways.

I have been doing PE maybe a year and two months. I never really used to take rest days out of the normal 2 on one off routine. Now that I did 5 days of stretching 1 day of edging, i notice my PIs went from pretty good to normal. I think taking a day or two off is perfect for you for testing the change in PIs to really see what exercises give good ones and which ones give bad ones. Personally, after this week I believe that mandingos give me bad PIs. I have been stretching hard and wanted to take a month off becuase i remembered my PIs being better. I only decided to take 4 days off but my penis felt alot better. Maybe the little bit of rest reset my healing and brought my dick back from 90% to 100%. It is about your body and not everyone elses. Many aspects of PE are common in all males, but the bulk of it just comes down to what works for you and what doesn't. I am by no means an expert, but I was overworking when I was not nearly as knowledgeable. As the experts say, "less is more". If your body can handle more then keep moving up

Any thoughts on using an extender on rest days?
I guess I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around taking one or more days off, unless you really need them!!!
Jelqing seem to me to be very valuable in helping with growth, and healing.
Is it the stretching or the Jelqing that your penis needs recovery from?
I'm under the impression that growth occurs in the engorged erect state ( one of the reasons for edging, and keeping your penis plump ) or in the extended state, something to do with healing at larger lengths than normal, or flaccid.
so +PI's are good in the sense that, on average your penis is plump and ready to go, and higher erection levels are associated with +PI's, so time under erection, +Jelq time, +stretch time, +plump hanging flaccid time,+/+PI's = growth...
I can't help but think that Jelqing should also be a large part of healing, not just stressing the penis.
I understand how important building up slowly every week is for conditioning, I'm just trying to find out the best way to heal and grow at the same time.Start date 4-16-14 now 7-12-16

If you are extending then you are not taking a day off, rest days are for just that, REST!!
