  • Size terminology, like .7 and suck

Sort of a stupid question..but not really.
When people say, "i gained 0.7 from yatta yatta", does that mean they gained .7 of one inch (70% of an inch) or does it mean something else? Ive seen people say "i gained .35" and i just dont understand.

.7 meters.. This gets me too... Do they divide the number of 8ths by 8 and then round? Maybe metrics are coming into play somewhere here.. I go by 8ths now..

Why don't americans use the metric system? It is by far more logical and easy to use than the imperial system. An example: one inch is about 2,54 centimeters, one foot is about 0,33 centimeters and one yard is roughly 0,9 centimeters, so one foot is 13,12 inches, one yard is 2,7 feet and one yard is also close to 35,43 inches. In the metric system 1 meter is 10 decimeters, 100 centimeters, 1000 millimeters, 0,1 decameters, 0,01 hectameters and lastly 0,001 kilometers. All on the basis of the tens, everything is the multiplied or divided by ten a number of times and you convert one unit to its multiple as easily as that.
