I agree that a picture is worth a thousand words therefore I find that keeping track of gains through progress photos to very effective and encouraging. in doing so I found that it helps to use well known objects in the photos to aid in perspective and comparison. Here are some things that I have used in the past:
1. Picture next to ruler
2. Picture with tailors tape wrapped around to measure girth
3. Picture of toilet roll test
4. Picture next to can of red bull
5. picture in front of door knob (for comparing head size)
6. Picture poking through a glory hole
7. Pictures with full squeeze and / or stretch of newly worked out member
