Ever since I've joined/been reading this site I've had a much higher level of awareness as far as what's going on with my pelvic floor muscles, and I have some observations and questions:
When I'm at/near PONR during an edging session, and I'm getting involuntary kegels, it seems like the muscle that is flexing is DIRECTLY behind my balls. Also, when it flexes it gets VERY hard. So, just to make sure I was working the same muscle when I kegel, I placed my fingers in that same spot and kegeled. I barley felt that area harden. But, if I kegel EXTREMELY hard, I notice that area gets nearly as hard as it does when it is flexing involuntarily.
So, it seems that unless I kegel ridiculously hard I'm not actually engaging the part of the muscle that automatically engages when I'm at/near PONR. When I kegel it seems that the muscle flexes more in the area away from my balls. I'm certain I'm kegeling correctly (can bounce it up and down, can stop urinating), but maybe my kegels are not intense enough??
Any thoughts?

Pegasus,
Yes, I'm aware that I'm doing the standard front kegel, but I'm just trying to ensure that I'm on the right track and that I'm working the correct muscle properly. As I said, the hardness of the BC during an involuntary flex is much greater than when I do a standard front kegel. This leads me to believe that 1) I'm not flexing hard enough when kegeling, or 2) I'm somehow working the wrong muscle

Involantary contractions are often more forcefull, in fact exercise like plyometrics relies on this.
The question should be how do you get rid of involuntary contractions and have contractions only when you wish to.
It appears to me your front standard kegel is overstrength relative to reverse kegel and it is the reverse kegel you should be puting extra effort into.
