  • biofeedback and Pre-E

Hey. My 7 year old daughter has ADHD and more seriously, Anxiety Disorder diagnosed by EEG. Her Anxiety is extreme. She will not play outside, even when adults are present, because of dogs that aren't there. If she even hears a dog barking in the distance, she panics. She will not sleep in a bed by herself. She also does not want my wife or I to go to sleep until she is already asleep. She suffers from Insomnia. She will not allow my wife or I to leave her sight, even in the house. If I'm home alone with her, she will not even let me use the bathroom without sitting in the doorway and watching me. She also has other extreme and irrational fears. One example is a fear of miniature golf courses. I have seen her go into full panic attack mode when we pass putt putt courses. Now, she came by this Anxiety Disorder honestly; my wife was previously on Zoloft and has an extreme fear of driving over bridges. I myself have never been officially diagnosed, but I have ALWAYS exhibited all the signs of an anxiety disorder...I get overly anxious at times, particularly physical performance anxiety. I have extreme Insomnia. and yes, I have always suffered from Pre-E. In fact, the only times I ever remember having what I classify as "good" sex is when I was so drunk that I didn't have a care in the world.

For over 2 years, when we thought ADHD was my daughter's chief problem, she was placed on pretty much every ADHD medicine with little effect. She also went to weekly Psychotherapy sessions for over a year without any improvement. She also has speech therapy at school, again with no improvement. When we finally had the EEG done and Anxiety Disorder became the chief diagnosis, things started to come together. the recommended non-medicinal answer was weekly sessions of Biofeedback, or Neurofeedback. We were told that it could take a year or more to see any marked improvement in my daughter's condition, but almost miraculously, I saw MAJOR improvement in only 4 weekly sessions. She was no longer to afraid to play outside, sleep by herself, or let us out of her sight. She no longer had problems going to sleep, either. Then, just as it is with things that seem too good to be true, we were told that my insurance would not pay for Biofeedback because it's "experimental". Against my better judgement, my 7 year old has now been placed on Prozac (which is, of course, an SSRI medicine). The therapist did however recommend that we should possibly look at the option of buying Biofeedback equipment and doing the procedure at home.

So then, I started researching Biofeedback. And yes, it is considered "experimental", but it is also accepted by several well respected medical associations. Biofeedback is brain training that has the same basic effect of the SSRI drugs without the adverse side effects. It is used to treat numerous anxiety related symptoms, including Premature Ejaculation. At this point, I've discussed with my wife that buying such equipment may have a very positive affect not only for our daughter, but for us as well.

On Amazon, there are several dozen different Biofeedback equipments which range from $100 to $10,000. Here is the issue as far as Pre-E is concerned....the only Biofeedback stuff I've found mentioned specifically for Pre-E (and urinary incontinence) is a device with an attachment that is inserted up the ass to train the PC muscles. However, I do NOT believe that MY Pre-E is caused by weakness of the PC muscles as I exercise them regularly with kegels/reverse kegels, etc. I also know for fact that my Pre-E is not caused by porn because in my 36 years, I've watched less porn than many males watch in a single month. I wholeheartedly believe that MY Pre-E is caused completely by Anxiety.

So, is there anyone else with any experiences in this? or, if not Biofeedback, has SSRI medications been a major improvement for anyone else's Pre-E? because I am seriously considered buying some sort of Biofeedback equipment (not the butt plug one, but the one of the ones for anxiety) and would appreciate anyone else's thoughts or experiences.

can you post links for both the butt-plug devices and the ones for anxiety ? i heard about biofeedback but i cant see how it can be powerfull enough to alter the serotonin receptors (thats what SSRI does) - if thats true iam buying one today... please post links to both alternatives so others can do some research - maybe even the unit your daughter was using at the clinic... i also think it may greatly depend on the kind of software / game play that they are using with the biofeedback as well as the connection sites (head, palms, etc) some biofeedback works with heart rate, some with sweat glands, some with muscle tension, some even with brain waves (EEG) - but i believe the EEG units are the ones with sensors all around your head and these might be pretty expensive... please be more specific... thank you

The one with a butt plug is a Myotrac Infiniti.

I dont about the model that my daughter was on, but I'm sure it was an expensive. It had to do with brainwaves and used sensors on the head. She has been on a very low dose of Prozac for over a week now and Ive seen no change yet. I saw major change with the Biofeedback in 4 weeks.

as for other models, there are many, in different price ranges, on Amazon.
