I'm also not sure about the reason, but it's always sad if this community gets smaller. Wishful commented on many of my threads and he offered his thoughts, it sucks that he left even though I hardly knew him.Comment

Here I'll make it easy for you guys. He left because of me. Maybe some of you have read the socialism thread. We seem to be on opposite sides of that. I happened to look at it as an exchange of ideas, no right, no wrong, no judgement. He didn't look at like that.
Sadly we live in a world where the simple exchange of ideas, discussions can no longer be allowed. No one is allowed a viewpoint that is different than someone else. I always thought that was how we learned. Now if I say I like the color blue someone who hates that color doesn't just disagree; they find me, not my choice of color, but me personally as offensive. For one point of view a person has among the many 1000's he may hold he now becomes offensive and is vilified.. Nowadays we no longer give respect to an others thought if they differ from our own.We simply hate them; to some because I like blue it becomes a personal attack on them, their very being and they get very angry. They simply call you a name and then walk away; no discussion because you hold a belief or opinion that is different are offensive.
A bit more than a year ago I was at an anniversary party with about 40 others in a private room at a resturant. I was standing with a nice glass of rum with a group of about 7 or 8 other people. As we conversed it seemed my good friend mentioned something about a policy of Trumps he thought was good. A woman overheard what he said and barged into our group, called him a racist and his presence at this party offended her and he should leave.
Now the thought of pouring that nice smooth rum over her head did cross my mind but you can't do that at parties. My buddy being much kinder than I simply smiled and said you're right; let me show you. He took at his phone and brought up a family photo.
He has 2 boys; one married an African American and one married a girl who's father was Hispanic and mother was African American. His 3 grandchildren were in the photo as well. He pointed and said here's my racist wife, my racist son with his racist wife, my other racist son with his racist wife and the three little ones are my grandchildren and while the young ones are not racist yet we're teaching them to be. The bitch was speechless and my buddy walked over and grabbed me by the arm and we went to that bar the place had and belted a few down. I must admit that having a wife is kind of like your own personal Uber driver when you had a bit too much.
People open your minds; exchange ideas. Everything is not personal; a differing point of view on anything is not offensive. How do we learn; how do we grow? How do we ever evolve, become better people by closing our minds, calling someone horrible names and then walk away because to talk to them is offensive. Hell their very presence is offensive.
I used to hear my parents say what is this world coming to? Now I say the same thing. A big to do down in Virginia over wearing blackface 30 years ago. Oh how racist they say. You know what I say? I say how stupid. Not only was it stupid what they did but the furor over it today is stupid. Young people do stupid things at times. 30 years ago I hated spinich; now I love it. You mean the guy wearing blackface is the same as he was 30 years ago; he can't change?
We value our position, our ideas and to hell with anyone who disagrees. What you did 30 or 40 years ago if I don't like it should beheld over you forever.
Each one of us is important in our own way. Realize that you are no better or worse than another.All opinions are as important as is the person.Discuss, exchange thought and ideas. Don't make it personal. Why start a fight. Has anything good ever come from a fight? Never!Stop deluding yourself, being so arrogant that only what you think is important, only what you believe and those that differ are offensive. That is a sick and sorry evil that I just can't understand.
Goodbye Wishful; I am truly sorry for your loss. Although I feel that I did not try to wrong you or harm you in anyway, that is the way you took it. I can't change that; that is in your heart. I know you'll read this member or not so I'll simply say God bless you, may He help you find the peace you so search for and you'l be in my prayers always.

As you know Cusp I disagree with you on this matter however I think its easier for us to debate something that doesnt adversely effect us as much as others.
