  • Sexuality in the U.S. and other countries

I know there's some members outside the U.S. and I'm curious how sex differs in different countries.

I'm an American who left the U.S. to travel different countries and experiencing how sexuality differs has been enlightening.

In Latin American countries, for example, sexuality is viewed differently than in the U.S. Being a mother or father is actually a sign of virility and sexual attractiveness. In the U.S. it's different. Except for the rare "MILF" or "DILF," being a parent isn't sexy. You've got things like "Mom jeans." In Latin American countries being called mami, papi, mamacita, papacito, etc are all sexualized terms. It's what you want to be called. And not having children is a negative sign. Before, when I didn't have a child, women would ask me "how many kids do you have?" and I would tell them "none." They would look at me like something was wrong. One girl asked me if I was gay. Basically, they were thinking something was wrong with me because I hadn't fathered any children.

People dress sexy here. In the U.S. many people here would look scandalous and some considered pornographic. It's just part of the culture and body shape or size doesn't matter - people dress sexy no matter their body.

Sex is more available and there's less social stigmas especially around women who are sexually active.

On the flipside people here seem more likely to stray and are more suspicious and insecure at times with their partners.

    What are your thoughts?

Unfortunately here in the States having children out of wedlock has become a cottage industry for government hand outs. I know quite a few younger women with kids living with their children’s father say, “We’ll never get married, we’d lose our Medicaid and free money”.
A prayer, is kinda the same as a "Like". If there are enough likes, God will take notice. So "Like" away please. My daughter needs your prayers. Thank You.

The USA is a huge country, with many differences between states. Some are more progressive, others are more conservative. Similarly, in Europe you have many countries, some progressive and other less so. The countries you have in mind are probably the former (Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, the Scandinavians, etc). Other countries are more conservative and more religious. This especially applies for eastern and southern Europe.

Below I attach a poll on the social acceptance of LGBTIQ in the EU, as an example of the difference between western and eastern Europeans. You can see a clear division between Western European states and former socialist republics (+Italy, Greece, and Cyprus). There are cultural differences among European, so it's not possible to reply to your question with a yes or no answer.

Aside from that, in every country there are regions that are more conservative and others that are more progressive.

It was not always like this. The 'Greatest Generation' won the war because of their rigid morals and faith in God. Females valued their virginity for marriage, and sex before marriage was a rare exception. Even college males viewed sex as something reserved for marriage. Research Alfred Kinsey and the Kinsey reports. These were released to the press in the '50s and was like propaganda against the Greatest Generation. According to Kinsey, farmers were fornicating with animals and married men and women were having affairs. The Kinsey reports helped trigger the sexual revolution of the '60s and '70s which led to Playboy, the modern porn industry, and all the other evils of the sex industrial complex. Mass abortions. Child abuse. Porn as mass entertainment. Gender mainstreaming. Its all connected. The sexual revolution rages on.

It's not morals and faith that win wars, but soldiers, weapons, money, and good strategy.

Other than that... Do you suggest that the Europeans are 'demoralized' because of their attitudes towards sex? If you actually believe that a person's morality is defined by their attitude towards sex, then you have a very problematic understanding of what morality is.

Let's try to stay on topic guys.

It's very interesting to see how different cultures are. I'd imagine muslim countries would be the polar opposite to the Latin ones you described. I do think religious beliefs and socioeconomic factors play a part in sexual freedom and expression.

One thing I find funny is that in Spanish the word for wife is "esposa" and the word for handcuffs or manacles is "esposas."

Most Latin American countries are very Catholic and things like Abortions are illegal. But their views seem less conservative as compared to the U.S. A child born out of wedlock isn't a bastard or illegitimate, it's called a "natural" birth. At least in this country common law marriages exist so when someone is in a relationship for 2+ years they automatically are legal husband and wife.

So, often times people refer to their partner as husband or wife when in the U.S. they would be boyfriend/girlfriend. For me when someone refers to their SO as novio/novia it means things aren't really serious. On the other hand if they say esposo/esposa then it means things are serious or more formal.

Bars and clubs aren't places you would pickup or meet someone "romantically." Usually when people go out they go with a large group of friends and family members. It would be seen as odd to try and flirt or pickup someone from a different group. This seems opposite from the U.S. where bars and clubs are a common place people go to meet and flirt.

Being a foreigner means that you are different than 99% of other people and it's a kind of novelty depending on where you are. Here, it's possible someone has never met a foreigner before. So, there are some people who fetishisize foreigners. I've heard other expats refer to these people as "Gringo hunters."

And sex work is legal, regulated, and doesn't carry the stigma that seems to be prevalent in the U.S. Because of this there isn't the idea of an American style strip club.

I'm curious how people's views on sexuality in different countries affect their views on penis size and PE in general. As far as I can tell there isn't a big community here online for PE. And there doesn't seem to be much interest in buying products related to PE.

Even though you are European, you must have learned about the Vietnam War, or in Vietnam, The American War. The US had all the soldiers, weapons, money, and strategic minds imaginable but was not able to win a war against common rice paddy farmers. America also had all the new playboy content available for the troops who didn't even want to be there.

Are Europeans demoralized because of sex? I think the Europeans that are involved in underground rape rings and industrial rape are.

I'm not triggered, I just don't understand what's the connection between morality, premarital sex, and winning wars, that @watersnake suggested. His comment has nothing to do with the topic of the thread, that is about cultural differences between the US and other countries on the subject of sex.

Look and you'll see a very strong connection. Each one requires a strong mental disciple, a strong will and determination to see it to it's conclusion. An army that doesn't give a crap can't beat Mickey Mouse. When you're really horny and you want to screw your girls brains out but you don't believe in premarital sex well that's not easy to not screw her is it? They used to say take a cold shower. To operate on a moral code in a world where morality is hard to find requires a strength that I know I don't have at times. A life of Don Quiote de la Mancha is not an easy one.
